Hello, I’m Larry, and I’m a writer…I’M A WRITER!

That’s not a confession, it’s a conviction. I believe it with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength.

Remember the time when someone trusted you with something special? Something valuable? Something big and important? Perhaps you were amazed, even nervous. I understand the feeling.

I’m convinced that God has entrusted me with the stewardship of story, and that’s something I take very seriously. I believe that writing is a calling from God. That conviction is humbling and exhilarating, challenging and convicting. It deserves my best efforts, my most serious attention, and a constant awareness that my writing is an act of worship. I don’t bow to my stories, I bow with my stories as I present them to God.

I love being a communicator! Whether I’m sitting and writing a novel, standing and preaching the living Word of God, or opening the Bible and teaching a Sunday School class, I’m always thrilled by the task of communicating truth. Who wouldn’t be?

So this blog will be about the power of words, and the stewardship of story. I’ll share with you my journey as a writer–the ins and outs, ups and downs, and whatever else pops into my head–as I craft stories. And this blog will be about you–the reader. You see, I write for you too. Yes, I want my books to honor my Lord, but I also want my writing to be a blessing to you. I don’t just write as an act of worship, I write to be read. In various ways, I’ve loved writing all my life.

I graduated from Wichita High School Southeast in 1981, and then went to Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. I’ve pastored churches in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas. And, for a few years, I was a licensed funeral director in Kansas. I’m a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW), and love being a part of the South Central Chapter of ACFW that meets in Wichita. I’m also a member of The Christian Writers Guild. But the greatest blessing in my life is that I’m also honored to be a husband and a father. My wife and children are my greatest treasures, and my biggest fans.

I hope you’ll be a part of my journey as a writer. Please let me know what you think of my posts by leaving a comment. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks.

Larry W. Timm

    Larry,
Congratulations on your blog. Thank you for the thought of “bowing with
my stories as I present them to God.” I had not thought of this offering in that manner. Writing is a calling from God. Larry, bless you and your blog.

Not surprised!! WOW!! As long as I have known you I have been wowed by your writings and preaching & teaching of the Word knowing full well that you humbly give give it all in worship before your King. How blessed we are at Gracepoint to sit under your gift of story. Thank You and congratulations.

    • Susan,
Thanks for the kind and uplifting words. It is an incredible honor to have the blessing of preaching and teaching the Word of God to such a group as Gracepoint! I look forward to each opportunity to gather with our dear congregation and celebrate our Lord together.

  3. I have nominated you for a “Very Inspiring Blogger” award. To see the terms of acceptance and find out what I wrote about your blog, visit –

Nomination #3 (will it be assassination or failed revolution?)

Don’t feel obligated to follow through on the conditions of acceptance, however. Just know that I find your blog inspiring and keep up the good work.

  4. Hey Larry, I’ve just completed a second draft of my spiritual memoir “Delight in Disorder: Meditations from a Bipolar Mind”. I have a good freelance editor giving it a thorough cleaning up. In the next few months, I hope to start shopping it around and I was thinking of looking for a good conference to attend to make connections and pick up some helpful hints. Do you have any recommendations of particular conferences coming up?

    • I’ll have to do some checking. I’m not real informed on conferences. I’ve been to ACFW’s conference, but it is primarily fiction. Blue Ridge was for both fiction and non-fiction, but it’s over for this year. If I fond anything out, I’ll let you know.
